Halloween 2010

We had a great Halloween this year. A few days before the actual holiday we decorated pumpkins. We opted out of actually carving them this year. Anna was still thrilled and Isaac was able to get in on the sticker fun too.

You may remember from our Disney World posts how much Anna loves Mary Poppins. She was pretty adamant about her Halloween costume. I did the best I could throwing together a costume for her. Anna was so please with how it turned out.

Isaac made a really adorable chimney sweep. He walked around for days with his hat singing, "Chim, chim."

Anna was so excited for the preschool parade. It was so fun. She had such a blast walking through the school and around the playground.

The ward Trunk-or-Treat was fun, although Anna and Isaac thought the best part was hanging out in the trunk.

Halloween night we invited our good friends the Jacobs over for tamales, chili, and donuts (a Sollis tradition). It made the night so much more festive and fun.

Cousins

My sister Liz graciously watched our kids while we were in Kansas house-hunting. She brought adorable Lily (also known as the most agreeable baby ever) along. We snapped this the night before they headed home.

Somewhere in Middle America

While we were in Florida, Jeff was contacted by his company with a job opportunity. After several over the phone conversations on vacation (literally on Main Street USA) and an on-site interview when we returned, Jeff was offered and accepted the position of Associate Administrator at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.


Yes, I said Kansas.


We were expecting a job change in the spring, but this came as a surprise. Things have moved forward really fast and since we have a bit of a timeline (you know, twins and all) we will be out of Colorado before Thanksgiving.

In fact, we were able to fly out a couple weeks ago, find a house, make an offer, and are now under contract for a beautiful home. (Our first as owners!)

So, in just a couple of weeks we will be calling this:

It's Too Quiet

Some facts:

• Only gained four pounds his second year
• Loves to tease Anna
• Gets into bed with Jeff and I every morning to snuggle (and wake us)
• Is most often found playing with cars and trucks
• Asks to take a bath at least three times a day
• Is especially fond of his grandpas (pampas)
• Likes to watch Toy Story (Buzsh) and Cars (Ca-chow!)
• Refers to himself as Buddy or Isis.

And just in case you forgot what he looked used to look like:

His rubberband wrist are gone, but I still want to pour syrup all over this boy and eat him up.

Isaac Turns Two

Isaac's big day started with his two-year old check up. I can't remember the stats, but basically he's average in weight and short. Thankfully, he didn't need any immunizations this go-around. We stopped at Krispy Kreme for donuts on the way home.

My mom and dad drove into town on Isaac's birthday, so we waited for them to arrive to celebrate. The party pushed back pretty late (hence the dark pictures).

Isaac received a Tonka firetruck and a matchbox car garage and I am happy to report that both have been well played with since.

Isaac is such a joy. We love our big two-year old.

Mom and Dad Black Come for a Visit

In celebration of Dad's retirement and the end of their mission, my parents embarked on a month long road trip. We were lucky enough to be the first stop on their fun trip.

Presents were immediately handed out upon arrival. Anna and Isaac were thrilled with their Halloween goody bags.

The twins were spoiled with outfits, homemade blankets, and adorable, pint-sized accessories.




We ate dinner at our one favorite local pizza joints, Anthony's. Mom kindly sat with Anna at the bar while the rest of us snagged a table. Strangely (and luckily) enough, the BYU football game was playing. It was a fun treat for Jeff and I since we don't have TV and miss fall sports this time of year. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones in the restaurant interested in that particular game.

We went raspberry picking and ate a picnic at Berry Patch Farms Saturday between conference sessions.

Had to go pumpkin patching. I love all the gradients of fall colors. Gorgeous!

The corn kernel pit was a hit with the kids and grandpa. Actually, I think we all piled in.

We had such a wonderful time with my mom and dad. We always feel blessed when family comes to visit. We only make it to Utah two or three times a year, so when we get visitors it feels like a little piece of home delivered right to us. Thanks for coming, Mom and Dad!
