In honor of Isaac's third birthday we had a backyard camp out. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. First up, setting up the tent.
Isaac was really into all the details of the set up.
These little guys hung out on a blanket and held still for about two seconds before they crawled on to better things.
Sam stayed long enough for me to snap a second picture of his fluffy hair.
Anna brought some things out to the tent. "Just in case I need anything, Mom."
Boy, these two are such great friends.
Jeff cooked up some tin-foil dinners in the bottom of the grill.
After dinner Anna and Isaac practiced sommersaults and qartwheels while I put the little boys to bed.
You cannot camp without s'mores. Even in the backyard.
Later in the tent we told spooky stories. I told "The Ghost with the Bloody Finger." (A classic, for sure) Jeff told Grandpa J's "Escaped-From-the-Circus Panther" story. (A Sollis classic. I obviously couldn't think of a good name for it.) Finally, Anna made up a super spooky story about a monster in a tree.
Unfortunatly, our stories backfired and Isaac decided camping out was "a widdo scawey." We left Jeff and Anna in the tent and retired to our beds.
It was so wonderful to spend the evening outside. The summer was so hot, I felt like we weren't able to fully enjoy our backyard. Fall is proving to be the perfect time to remedy that.
