Post Edit: A few observations. One, Isaac's collar would lay so much better if he had a neck. I swear he goes straight from chest to chin. Two, the side sweep hair-do is getting a little out of control. Time for the first haircut? I think so. Three, lest ye think I am favoring Isaac via camera shots I'll have you note that Anna refused to participate in this impromtu shoot. She apparently had better things to do. Like host imaginary guests for a Strawberry Shortcake Tea Party. We were not invited.

Uncle Chris and Aunt Susie Visit

Jeff's little brother Chris and his wife Susie came into town for a little visit a couple of weeks ago. We had so much fun with the. Anna warmed up immediately to "Crazy Uncle Chris." Kids love him and Anna was no exception.

Highlights included:

A day trip up the canyon visiting Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon Lake, a (random) buffalo herd and Buffalo Bills Grave.

Eating sans kids at the Chop House in downtown Denver. Excellent cuts of meat and excellent company. (Not necessarily in that order.)

Late night talking and laughing.

Watching/Napping through Bolt. Anna was so excited that Chris and Susie brought shows with them!

Where Onions Go To Die

This is the view across the street from our townhome. Not a great picture, but I had to document. All the little brownish white dots in the field are onions. Old onions. Onions that have gone bad. Onions that keep multiplying in number and stench. I do not know who dumps them or why, but I do know that it stinks to high heaven and I will not miss our neighbor one bit when we move on from this place.

Saturday Outing

Saturday is definitely my favorite day of the week. We almost always go on some sort of outing as a family. The kids get Jeff's undivided attention, and I get a much needed escape from the monotony of the week. This particular day we spent the afternoon downtown. Denver is such a cool city and I feel like we're slowly getting to know the neighborhoods and flavors of the downtown beat.

We first hit our favorite Mexican Cantina, Benny's. Mmmmm. Jeff discovered this gem through a business lunch. It has quite a large local following so it's usually pretty packed with the neighborhood hipsters and young families. The food is excellent, prices low. Good Mexican food is easy to find here, but so far this is favorite.

After lunch we hit the LoDo district and spent some time in the Tattered Cover bookstore. It's a Denver staple and for good reason. It's homey and eclectic, yet has a great selection of books and magazines. There are nooks with arm chairs, large tables to spread out a paper, cozy lamps, and an in house coffee shop. It's one of my favorite spots to hang and any place with books keeps Anna occupied for hours so its a win-win for the whole family. And, as with most city spots, the people watching is excellent.

Colorado Skies

One of things I love most about the west is the sweeping skyscapes. At the end of our town home units, we can climb a hill and see out for miles. I love to go out with Anna and watch sunsets. This particular pictures was right after a classic 15 minute rainstorm. The camera didn't pick up the rainbow but suffice it to say the sky was amazing with its gray-blue clouds and sun rays.
